How I Get Free Backlinks for My SaaS

Simple SaaS SEO strategy that brings traffic and helps rankings grow

Getting backlinks is one of the main ways I grow my SaaS products.

Backlinks help me in two ways:

  • They improve my Google rankings

  • They bring direct traffic from other websites

The more trusted websites link to me, the more Google trusts my site.

And honestly?

Sometimes link building helps more than building new features.

If nobody links to your product, Google may think your website is not important.

I see backlinks like this:

  • More backlinks = more trust

  • More trust = better rankings

  • Better rankings = more users

Without backlinks, growth feels much slower.

That’s why I focus on getting them early.

The Easiest Way I Found

There are many SEO strategies

But one of the easiest methods for me was simple:

Add my SaaS to trusted platforms.

Not spam websites.
Not random directories.

Relevant platforms.

Places where people already search for:

  • SaaS tools

  • startups

  • services

  • software

Usually I add my product as:

  • a profile

  • a launch

  • an article

  • a startup listing

What I Check Before Using a Website

Before adding my SaaS anywhere, I check:

  • Does the site have real traffic?

  • Does Google trust it?

  • Do users stay on the website?

If the website looks spammy, I skip it.

Simple.

Why These Platforms Work

Most of these platforms give free backlinks.

You do not need a big budget.

Only:

  • time

  • consistency

  • patience

Over time I started seeing results:

  • better rankings

  • more traffic

  • stronger domain authority

  • faster indexing

And the traffic feels different.

People there already search for tools like mine.

So they are more likely to become users.

Big Companies Spend Thousands

A lot of startups spend huge money on SEO and ads.

I don’t.

I prefer simple distribution first.

Step by step:

  • build visibility

  • build trust

  • build authority

That’s my approach to SaaS marketing.

Another Strategy I Use

Sometimes getting backlinks from huge websites is hard.

Sites like:

  • Wikipedia

  • AWS

  • Forbes

  • MIT

  • Harvard

Usually you cannot just submit your site there.

So I started using expired domains with existing backlinks.

I use my project, GoneDomains, to find domains that already have strong links.

Then I redirect them to my project.

Simple strategy.
But it works surprisingly well.

My Advice for SaaS Founders

If I launch a new product today, I do not wait.

I start building backlinks early.

Before ads.
Before scaling.

Because distribution matters.

Not only the product itself.

Final Thoughts

SEO growth is usually slow.

But backlinks compound over time.

One good backlink may bring:

  • rankings

  • trust

  • traffic

  • users

That’s why I keep investing time into link building.

Small SEO wins become big results later.
